GDPR and personal information safety

What is the GDPR?

The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) is a European Union regulation designed to strengthen the protection and privacy of personal data.

The GDPR standardizes data-protection rules across the European Union and has been in effect since 25 May 2018.

Under the GDPR, personal data means any information that relates to an identified or identifiable natural person.

Examples of personal data include:

  • name
  • home address
  • photograph
  • email address
  • bank details
  • a computer IP address

How does the GDPR affect my personal data?

Under our Privacy Notice, we may request your written consent when we need to use or process your personal data.

When consent is required, we will explain:

  • what data will be processed
  • why the data is required
  • how the data will be used

We also protect your personal data by applying strong technical and organizational security measures to prevent theft, loss, or misuse.

How long will my personal data be stored?

We do not keep personal data longer than necessary for the purpose for which it was originally collected.

However, in some situations we may be required to retain data for longer periods due to:

  • legal obligations
  • regulatory requirements
  • licence conditions

In these cases, data retention is required by law and no action is required from you.

What happens to my data if I stop using your services?

If you stop using our services, your personal data will eventually be removed from our database.

The retention period depends on the country and license under which your account was registered.

After the applicable retention period expires:

  • personally identifiable information is deleted
  • the data is no longer accessible to us
